Why must it not be cut with an angle grinder?

Heat damages the protective coating and the zinc layer at the cut edge, and the hot swarf that embeds itself becomes a rust spot across the whole sheet. For that reason the manufacturer does not allow such cutting and the warranty stops applying. Cut with shears, nibblers or this cutter.

Do I have to use the manufacturer’s accessories?

The manufacturer warranty applies when the sheet is fitted with the manufacturer accessories and to the instructions. Cheaper screws with a poorer EPDM washer start letting water through after a few years, and cutting with an angle grinder overheats the coating and voids the warranty entirely. That is why we always suggest ordering the accessories together.

How do I work out how much is needed?

Send us the roof dimensions or a drawing and we will prepare a list with quantities. Screws are usually needed at 6-8 per square metre of slope, but the exact number depends on the roof shape and the amount of flashing.
