Frequently asked questions

Is it suitable for a lived-in loft?

No. Single-chamber glazing is too cold for a heated room - for a lived-in loft we choose AURA windows with triple glazing. The hatch is for places that need only light and access.

Does it suit standing-seam panels?

Yes, but during installation the sealing strip has to be removed and the joints folded by hand or flashed with plain sheet. Normally the hatch is fitted on tiles and flat coverings.

What size window should I choose?

The rule of thumb is a glazed area of about 1/8 of the room floor area. In practice the rafter spacing usually decides it: the window has to fit between them without altering the structure. Tell us the spacing between rafters and the room size, and we will pick one.

Is the collar included in the window price?

No, it is chosen separately - to suit your roofing. Flat coverings up to 16 mm need KPS, profiled ones up to 50 mm need KFS, and higher profiles up to 120 mm need KFK Combi. Without the right collar the window will not be watertight, so we always offer them together.

From what pitch can it be installed?

The collars are made for pitches of 15-90°, which covers almost every pitched roof. Flat roofs need a separate solution - get in touch and we will discuss it.
